The Best And Cheapest Healthy Water For Your Garden- Rainwater
By Dharmender Singh
Avid gardeners spend a good part of the winter planning what they will plant in the spring. Even casual gardeners invest plenty of time and money in their plants. Regular watering is one key to a successful garden. So what’s a gardener to do when faced with lack of rainfall combined with water restrictions in the middle of a hot summer?

More and more gardeners are turning to rain barrels to keep their gardens happy and healthy. Saving rainwater to use during dry periods is an ancient practice that is once again becoming popular. This low-tech but ingenious solution is simple and inexpensive, and provides chemical-free water that plants thrive on.

The plastic rain barrels come in a range of sizes, with 50 to 60 gallons being most common. Simply place the barrel under a downspout in an unobtrusive part of your yard and wait for rain. Instead of letting rainwater flow down your driveway and into a storm drain, it will collect in the barrel for later use.

You can harvest a surprisingly large amount of rainwater from your gutters. Just a small amount of rain — less than half an inch — can easily fill a 50 gallon rain barrel, so you can quickly start to collect enough to keep your flower beds, garden or houseplants well watered. “It won’t be enough o water your lawn, but it will be plenty for vegetable gardens, flowers and shrubbery,” says Lars Hundley, owner of Dallas-based CleanAirGardening.com, an online company that specializes in environmentally friendly lawn and garden supplies. To collect more water, you can connect several barrels with a pip or hose, or you can put barrels under more than one gutter downspout.

Once your rain barrel is full, you can hook a hose up to the rain barrel to water your garden (rain barrels are perfect to use with soaker hoses), or you can simply dip a watering can into the barrel. Rainwater is naturally soft and free of minerals, chlorine, fluoride and other chemicals.

“Trees and plants rely on fungus, bacteria and nematodes to help them absorb the minerals and nutrients they need,” explains Hundley. “Plants have an efficient immune system that allows them to fend off diseases and other invaders as long as they have a healthy soil environment and aren’t stressed by other factors,” he adds. Chemical fertilizers, fungicides, pesticides and drought disrupt the balance and harmony of the soil, weakening trees and plants and allowing disease to take over. “The chemicals and hard water from many municipal water systems also add to the imbalance of the soil. Watering with softer, natural rainwater is a nice treat for your plants,” says Hundley.

In addition to being good for your plants, rain barrels can also save you money. Some experts estimate that lawn and garden watering make up almost 40 percent of total household water use during the summer; by utilizing collected rainwater, you can substantially reduce this amount. As an added benefit, collecting rainwater also helps control moisture levels around the foundation of your house.

Here are some tips to consider when shopping for a rain barrel:

* Make sure your barrel is child-proof. A safety grid at the top prevents children and animals from entering.

* All systems should use covered barrels that keep the water from accumulating leaves and other debris. They should also have some kind of filter to keep out silt and leaves; these can range from a funnel with mesh in the bottom that is covered by gravel to a rainwater washing apparatus that you can purchase.

* Keep mosquitoes from breeding in your barrel by keeping it tightly covered and using debris screens to filter water before it enters the barrel. Cleaning your gutters and downspouts frequently and using collected rainwater within a few days will also help control mosquito problems. You can place a nontoxic mosquito “dunk,” in the barrel for additional protection.

Some cities have started programs to give residents easy access to affordable rain barrel systems. You may be able to find a limited selection of rain barrels at your local garden supply store.

Gas Prices - Isn’t It Exciting To Burn Your Life Savings?
By Pablo Terreros
Do you remember just a handful of years ago when gas was around $1 per gallon? How terrible were those days! All the money left over in our bank account gave us no choice but to travel with our families, pursue new economic opportunities, and enjoy life in general.

Times are better now, right? After all, gas is almost $3.50 per gallon. Prices on all other items are rising to compensate for fuel costs. And, of course, our small cost of living raise we got at work does not even begin to keep pace.

Where should you take the family on vacation? Nowhere! What recreational activities should you pursue? Nothing! How much should you invest this year? Zero! Why? Simple, all the money for those things is conveniently going into the gas tank.

Ahhh……finally, life is simple again.

I’m sure some people out there long to go back to how things were before, back to the days when we had the stress of deciding where to go on vacation. Well, in the event that you are one of those strange souls who enjoyed having money, what can be done to compensate?

First things first……I think we must realize that gas prices are not coming back down. I know……congress and presidential candidates are screaming and hollering at the oil companies. They are performing their “investigations” to get to the bottom of the problem. Have you ever noticed that they do this every time there is a rapid spike in gas prices? Have you also noticed that nothing ever comes if it?

The truth is that gas prices are the result of many global economic factors. None the least of these is the fact that developing nations are beginning to consume oil in enormous quantities. When demand goes up and production does not keep pace, guess what happens to cost? Welcome to the wonderful world of supply and demand.

So, again, what if you want to leave the simple and peaceful life of struggling to make ends meet and return to the stress of having more than enough money? Well, you need to either reduce your consumption of fuel, increase your income, or both.

There are several ways you can reduce your fuel costs-even without buying a hybrid. You can reduce the number of days you drive to work. I’m sure your boss wouldn’t mind if you only showed up every other day.

You could also consider eliminating other sources of fuel that really are not needed-like electricity. Turn the air conditioner, the lights, and the fridge all off. People survived for thousands of years without these and I’m sure you wouldn’t notice if your air conditioner didn’t run anymore……especially in August.

However, if you feel that those suggestions are impractical, you can simply increase your income. I’m sure your boss will understand when you demand a very large raise to keep pace. Don’t forget to ask for enough to compensate for the increased taxes you will have to pay.

If a direct raise doesn’t work, perhaps request that your boss pay for your fuel to and from work. Simply keep a journal of how much you drive to and from work, figure out your fuel expenses per mile, add in some extra to donate to the IRS, and then insist your boss add that to your check every payday. I’m sure this will not only work, but your ingenuity will probably get your boss to give you a promotion.

Of course, if you really wanted to return to the stress of financial abundance, you need to do BOTH in a way where YOU are in control. That means reducing your fuel expenses AND increasing income without having to consult with a boss.

Taking this route probably means starting some type of internet business. For those who want to have no choice but have the money for vacations and other activities, this moment in history provides an opportunity that has never existed before.

Of course, you’re going to need to learn how to do this. That’s really not a big deal as it is simpler than many people think. Most of it is also free, which will be appreciated by those who are trying to keep money in their pocket.

The best thing about an internet business is it allows you to increase your income, spend ZERO money for gas because you are at your home, and you are your own boss.

So there you have it! Most of us will continue to enjoy the peace of not having to make any financial decisions because the money is simply all burned up by the gas tank. However, for those who feel the need to run from this peace, the internet has come along at just the right time to allow you to maintain your previous standard of living.

If you are ready to return to the stress of not caring about gas prices, and would like to see if you qualify for an internet business, call Pablo at (863) 658-4045 to request an interview.

Solar Power Homes

Have you ever noticed homes that have huge tinted windows in them as you drive by? You may wonder why someone would want such tall windows in their home. There is a reason for that and it is because of they are using solar power to heat their homes and to provide the energy they need to power it. Any home can be built to use solar power with just a few minor alteration to make and you too can build a solar power house that will save you a lot of money in the future as you use solar power to heat your home, pump and heat your water and also to provide energy to your home to power your appliances and lights in your home naturally and effectively without a monthly bill

There are just a few suggestions when building your solar power home. It depends on where you live as to which side of the house you should put the most windows on. For the most part is more common to assume that the sun rises more toward the south side of your home. This is the side where you want to have the most windows in your home. That way you are allowing the sun to shine through and warm your home naturally. You also need to make sure that there are no trees that are directly close to the house that may prevent the sun from shining directly into the home. Don’t use dark colors in your home to decorate with. Instead use bright and light colors that will attract the heat more evenly and benefits you more.

Adding a solar source outside where you can use a solar power designed box to attract the heat from the sun can be transformed into energy to power your home and warm your water. The products that it takes to get this accomplished will cost a little more than if you built a standard home without using solar power. The good thing about solar power is that it is an initial investment.

Overtime when you totally rely on the sun to heat your home and all the other functions it can perform you will not have a monthly bill because you don’t pay for the sun every month like you do with other power sources. Use ceiling fans to reduce the amount of time you may need to run your air conditioner. Ceiling fans can produce a more even amount of heat and air without having hot and cold pockets throughout the home. Use metal insulated doors that will keep out the cold and bring in the heat. Keep the doors closed during the time of day that the sun is shining in on that side of your home in order to save the heat inside your home longer.

Owning a solar power home means that you are encouraging preserving our natural resources for the future. It also means that you will not worry with the increase in cost of electricity and gas because you are using the best source out there without hurting the environment.

How Do You Find Renewable Energy?

We already know that the use of electricity, gas and coal are all resources that we may eventually run out of.  These are the non-renewable resources that we rely heavily on today.  We use these non-renewable resources to do many things, including supplying us with power, heating our homes, businesses and schools and more. When we use all the non-renewable resources up and there are no more to gather, then what? How will we go without the convenience that we are so accustomed to? It’s nice to flip a switch to get power and it is even better when the latest technology allows us to press a button to do all the things that women and men had to work for hours to accomplish.  We are fortunate to live in a world with so many modern gadgets.  Unfortunately when we lose it we may be so accustomed to the modern perks that we will not know what to do when we don’t have them any longer.

What we have to rely on in the future is renewable resources. These resources are all resources that offer us an abundant supply and will never run out. They recharge and allow us to enjoy them again and again.  The renewable resources consist of Solar, Wind, Biomass, Hydrogen, Geothermal, Ocean, and Hydropower We need all of these and right now we have access to each one of them.  What do they do and how do they help us with solar power? Let’s find out.

Solar refers to the solar energy that we get everyday either directly or indirectly from the sun. Solar energy can be used for several things, such as heating, electricity to home, schools, businesses, or buildings, heating water, cooling and ventilation.

Wind helps the suns heat down to earth. When the wind combines with the heat of the sun, it causes evaporation.  When the water turns into precipitation it produces energy that can then be captured by hydropower.

Hydropower takes energy from flowing water and captures it turning it into electricity. Hydropower is very complicated and requires a great deal of technology in order to successfully accumulate energy from water.

Biomass is an organic matter that can help to make up the plants. It can be used for the production of electricity, transport fuels or chemicals.

Hydrogen is the most abundant element found on earth, usually with other elements. If hydrogen is found alone it can be burned or converted into electricity.

Geothermal looks toward the inner parts of the earth for heat and can be used for power, heating, and cooling.

Ocean produces thermal energy using the heat from the sun. It can also use mechanical energy for the tides and waves.

As you can see the renewable resources are all around us.  We know what they do and how we can use them.  There are so many benefits to using renewable resources. If we don’t use them now we may not have a choice later. The knowledge we learn from today will help us use the energy more wisely.
