Alternative Solar Energy – Key To A Brighter Future

Their are two fantastic alternates in generating cheaper power and both have no polution at all.

Wind farms in the oceans great idea it bothers nobody unlike the land version where space and turbine noise is a problem the end result is polution free wind generated power for our homes, how good is that?.

The other, solar power which is non intrusive, non poluting and some thing we can all do our selves for the planet. I don’t necessarily mean we build it our selves but it’s some thing we should add to our homes like adding on a car port or garage it improves the value of our home as well.

Here in Australia our government offers grants to have solar power installed on your property after their grant the cost is only around $5000 installed on $1000 deposit and it pays for itself in 4 years and any excess power you generate that you don’t use, goes back into the power grid to make you money.
Why would you not go for it?

Alternative solar energy is a very important topic with regards to the future of our planet. Especially during this time when scientists and geologists are claiming that we have reached a “peak oil” period.

Peak oil is a term that references the fact that we have reached the peak in oil discovery. The period that follows means that world oil reserves are declining. Once these reserves are deleted or become to costly to recover, oil prices will soar.

Solar energy is one solution to this problem. The good news is that you can take full advantage of existing solar energy technology right now.

The most widespread solution today for harnessing sun power is the solar panel. These panels convert sun energy (photons) into electric energy through the use of photovoltaic cells (PV cells). This conversion process is called the photo-electric effect.

Most solar panels use wafer-based crystalline silicon cells. While this article will not go into the complex construction of these panels, there are some excellent DIY guides that show you how to make your own panels and integrate them into your home’s electric grid.

This integration is made possible by the use of storage cells and inverters. After the sun’s energy is captured, it is stored as direct current. This direct current is then converted into alternating current by the inverter.

While it all sounds very complicated, you don’t need any special skills to build solar panels for your home. Also, the components and materials needed for construction are widely available.

The resultant savings make this well worth the initial investment and effort. As the cost electricity, gas and kerosene continue to increase in price, you owe to yourself to look to the sun as an alternate source of energy.

The Reliability Of Water Generated Power

In this modern era of technology, it is interesting to see how often scientists and engineers are turning to the past for some answers and solutions. If you consider the two most common sources of alternative energy – hydro and wind systems – it is easy to see how the past is inspiring the present, and the future.
The hydro electric water wheel is one of the earliest systems put to use by large and small enterprises alike. It required only that a building be situated directly adjacent to a body of water that moved at a fairly regular pace, and that the suitable water-wheel-technology to be installed properly as well.

The force of the water would spin the wheel and this would either power a turbine that generated electricity or it would somehow power the equipment contained within the building. While there are still some water wheels at work in the modern era, today this type of equipment is installed inside massive dams that supply enough electricity for entire cities or geographic regions. There are also small businesses and homeowners who look to a hydro electric water wheel for their electrical needs as well.

Regardless of the size of the home-based or business application, however, any system using water-wheel-technology is going to require a consistent supply of water without the building of a dam. This is due to the simple fact that most areas do not allow the sort of mass and widespread environmental changes that even a relatively small dam could create. The hydro electric power plants seen all around the world, on the other hand, tend to be government instigated or connected programs that are under a great deal of control.

For instance, any hydro electric power plant of substantial size is going to cause some impact on spawning fish populations, and this is the reason so many large-scale operations will have extensive “fish ladders” incorporated into their design. Clearly, a small home or business is not going to be able to offset the costs of such a facility, even one on a small scale, and this is the reason they are only in the most limited usage by individuals.

Because of these limitations those businesses and homes that implement hydro electric water wheel technologies are usually looking to it as a supplementary supply or something connected to a specific function. For example, many outlying farms or ranches will use water-wheel-technology to pump water to farm animals or into agricultural areas under irrigation.
