Go Green and Stop Global Warming and the Greenhouse Effect

Global warming and the greenhouse effect are becoming bigger and bigger issues due to the increase in extreme weather over the past few years. The best way to stop these two phenomena is by making more eco friendly and energy efficient decisions in our lives.

What Causes These Problems and How Do We Fix It?

The greenhouse effect occurs when Earth’s atmosphere traps solar radiation, which is caused by atmospheric gases that build up due to air pollution. Global warming is the gradual increase in Earth’s surface temperature, and it is responsible for the melting of the polar ice caps. Global warming is caused by the greenhouse effect, so solving one problem would solve the other.

The devastating climate changes that have been caused by global warming are slowly but surely getting worse and more extreme. If nothing is done to make it stop, things are going to spiral out of control and humanity will be at risk. Although the task at hand may seem daunting, it really isn’t. If everybody decided to go green and make eco friendly lifestyle changes, then we would all be in a much better position.

Since the best way to go green is by increasing energy efficiency, we should all reuse more and waste less. For example, recycling all paper, plastic, and glass products would make a difference. We should also rely more on alternative and renewable energy resources rather than fossil fuels that cannot be replenished. This can be done by converting to solar power in your home, driving a hybrid car, or using biofuels.

Renewable Energy Systems – How NOT To Spend Indiscriminately, Throwing Cash Into the Dustbin Instead

Did you know that all over the world amounts of fossil fuels are threatened?

Governments and environmentalists are beginning to educate people that in order to maintain supplies and levels something needs to be done urgently. Renewable energy systems have long been recognized as being a possible source of power which has great advantages for use as world energy.

Fossil fuels have been proven to have a powerful negative impact on the environment.

There is an unarguable link between the use of fossil fuels and the presence of global warming. Global warming has direct influence over weather including heat waves, hurricanes, droughts and other phenomenon; it also affects human and animal life.

For individuals interested in learning more regarding the powerful impact of global warming, various documentaries are available for viewing; one recommendation is ‘An Inconvenient Truth’. Following viewing of this film many people find they are shocked and become better informed, which is reflected by the increase of people who then want to incorporate renewable energy systems into the design of their home whether building new, or just wanting to accommodate small changes to make a more energy efficient and environmentally friendly home.

Renewable energy has many advantages.

One of the most noteworthy is it’s provision of a clean green form of energy which has a low carbon footprint emission. More and more people are paying attention to these benefits and so the use of renewable energy systems such as solar power, geothermal and wind energy is rapidly rising.

An increasing number of jobs are being created using renewable energy and in particular wind farms; these have been predicted to stay in the United Kingdom too. The majority of these jobs offer competitive salary and benefits.

Government Incentives and Schemes

The U.K. Government has taken note of the above and therefore offers some interesting schemes and incentive programs for people who chose to install renewable energy systems into their homes. These include Solar Panel grants, tax credits and a new ‘Renewable Heat Incentive’ which will be in place by April 2011.

If alternative energy sources such as renewable energy are easily and more affordably available, increasing numbers of people will be inclined to install this into their homes in order to help protect the environment from further damage and global warming. Often the people who choose to install renewable energy systems are those who promote green living; recycling, walking or cycling, no air travel. The majority of these people are often responsible for trying to make the world a better, more eco-friendly world to live in.

Every year, National Geographic publishes a Green Guide which provides interesting and informative information on green issues, plus a listing of the world’s top 10 cities. Is your city going to be in this year’s guide?

The advantages of renewable energy are inexhaustible. However, when looking at the advantages, it is also necessary to be aware of the disadvantages. The main one being cost, although the price of installing renewable energy is reflected by the environment and in the long term personal finance,. In the short term, and when initially installing these systems, outgoings are so high with no visible benefits until 10-12 years, it often competes against the advantages of installing renewable energy technology. Until cost can be reduced, only people that have disposable cash will be able to afford the £15,000 it can cost to install a solar energy system.
